Thoughts, Words, Works

No More Tears @

Nakiami from Xam'd Lost Memories

Some things just tick me off. One of those is when people seem to think that science fiction cannot be literature, which is the position of my present creative writing professor. It's kind of a killjoy when the professor tells you that the kind of thing you like to write, you shouldn't bother with because she thinks it's a waste of time. Makes one tend to get rather bitter, and feel like the rest of the class is a waste of time. Anyway, I was in quite a funk yesterday on account of that and a few other points. For some reason, this made me want to draw. First thing I did was a sketch of Natsume (of Natsume Yuujinchou), based on a reference frame from the anime. Well, I was so surprised at how well it turned out, I did another drawing, Nakiami from Xam'd: Lost Memories, and colored it within less than half a day. Amazing how that works. (As for the Natsume pic... I'll probably color it eventually, but I want to spend a little more time on it than this one.)

A New Beginning @

Xamd Episode 21 Japanese title: Sactuary Breached: [If I cry, I lose,] Fusa always thought. American Title: Sanctuary Breached.

Well, this first post of the new year is long overdue, but I've finally gotten around to writing it. (I did, however, make a rare post to my anime music blog, Nekomimi Music in the meantime.) And, though I have some other interesting thoughts to post, I'll be saving those for a while. Right now, it's time to talk about the new anime starting this season.

Season's Greetings @

Index and the cast have a pretty exciting Christmas.

Well, here we are. Deep into the holiday season, it's time to deliver an update on pretty much everything I'm watching. It's an interesting time to do so, too, because a lot of shows are nearing the end of their run and showing signs of reaching a finale. I've fallen a bit behind ever since Thanksgiving (finals didn't help) but the things I've chosen to prioritize may or may not be indicative of what I think about them.

It's Blogging Time! Fall 2008 Anime @

It's a Sony.

So, here we are. An actually kinda bloggy blog post. The topic? Anime that's airing this season. More specifically, I have some things to say about CLANNAD ~AFTER STORY~, Kannagi: Crazy Shrine Maidens, and Xam'd: Lost Memories (also known as Bounen no Zamned and a few other variations). There's actually a lot more I'm watching besides just that, but those comments will have to come later! So, hit the jump for my more detailed meditations, and don't worry - spoilers are properly tagged as such within.
